Big Ranch BedIn Southern Indiana in the late 1800's Billy Richardson started handcrafting hickory chairs and sold then on the town square in Martinsville, Indiana. It is believed that Richardson made the original Andrew Jackson three hoop chair for President Jackson. The Old Hickory Chair Company started in an abandoned church, and incorporated in 1899.Andrew Jackson Rocker The company began furnishing nearly all of the new National Park lodges, including the Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone that, over 100 years later, still uses the original chairs today. The Old Hickory Chair Company changed their name to the Old Hickory Furniture Company in 1921 and moved to Shelbyville, Indiana in 1982. Today Old Hickory Furniture Company Hand-Crafts each piece with the same attention to detail, carefully matching each part, with the difficult assembly of mortise and tenon, and the meticulous hand weaving process that has made Old Hickory Furniture unique, comfortable, attractive and very durable. OLD HICKORY FURNITURE CO. is an American Tradition that has endured the test of time.
